| “Both my parents died when I was young. I was raised by my grandmother and she didn’t have any income. It was very hard for her to provide for me. A woman in our village started to provide money to my grandmother and befriended me. She told me that she could give me a better life in a child car center in another city. My grandmother and I believed her and I accepted her offer and we took a train ride to my new life. What I didn’t know was that she was working with brothels and pimps and was planning on auctioning me off to them. Once I discovered this, I escaped from her and took a train back to my city. At the railway station, a Rescue1 staff member approached me because I was crying and came to learn about what had happened to me. They comforted me and told me that I could live in a Rescue1 home. Through our Rescue1 homes, we have rescued 150 children from sex-slavery and abandonment.
We currently have 125 monthly child sponsors and are in need of 25 more to keep all of the children in our 5 homes safe. The need is immediate and urgent.
